Therapy Dogs | What a difference Millie Cavoodle is making!

My beautiful daughter Lexi was born on the 24th of June. I didn't have a great pregnancy with her but I finally got my little girl after having 2 boys.

Lexi seemed to be a healthy happy baby with reflux. However, at the age of four months I started to worry a little as she wasn't even rolling and hated being on her tummy.   Our doctor put it down to reflux and the pressure on her tummy.  Then at six months of age she still wasn't rolling or even attempting to sit unsupported. When I looked at children the same age as her they all seemed so much more advanced than her so I went to the paediatrician again to be told she is just a lazy baby but to stop me from annoying him he sent us off to the local hospital for physio.

Therapy Dogs Singapore Visit I wasn't going to blog about...
Jet Cavoodle and I went along to our usual Therapy Dogs Singapore visit to our local nursing home yesterday. Each time we do something I think, 'will I blog about this, will people be interested?'.  Friday I decided I wouldn't bother because I've shown you all before and explained what happens and really didn't think I could add anything more of value.  That was until I met the loveliest man I've met so far.  Each time we visit I come across some characters, some residents are quiet, others are interested to feed Jet, some are happy to watch from a distance.

Jet Cavoodle Does Therapy Dogs Singapore Visit

Today saw our first Therapy Dog's Singapore visit for 2014, we visit the nursing home which is a ten minute drive from home.  Jet Cavoodle was quite interesting today, it appeared he remembered from our previous visit, that food was included as part of our visit.  I take his kibble in a snap locked bag so the residents can feed him.  This also encourages Jet Cavoodle to get nice and close to the residents so they are able to have a pat.  Many of the residents sit in wheel chairs so it's often difficult for Jet to get too close.  As soon as we came across a resident in a wheelchair he looked at me and started licking his chops.

Jet Cavoodle's First Therapy Dogs Singapore Visit

Jet Cavoodle's First Therapy Dogs Singapore Visit

After passing the Temperament Test for Therapy Dogs Singapore we booked in for our first visit. I'm required to book in 4 visits in the next 6 months.  Unless we are traveling I plan to attend the monthly Friday session at a Nursing Home close by to where we live.  I'm told the week day sessions are harder to fill with Therapy Dogs as many of the owners work fulltime and because I can be flexible with work we can arrange to go to most of the Friday afternoon sessions.

Jet Cavoodle Joins Therapy Dogs Singapore

Jet Cavoodle Joins Therapy Dogs Singapore
I've always thought Jet Cavoodle would make a great therapy dog.  I'm not sure if you've heard of the idea, basically it's where dogs with the right temperament are allowed into Nursing Homes and Hospitals to interact with the residents and patients. There are proven benefits to for everybody involved.
