Therapy Dogs Singapore Visit I wasn't going to blog about...
Jet Cavoodle and I went along to our usual Therapy Dogs Singapore visit to our local nursing home yesterday. Each time we do something I think, 'will I blog about this, will people be interested?'.  Friday I decided I wouldn't bother because I've shown you all before and explained what happens and really didn't think I could add anything more of value.  That was until I met the loveliest man I've met so far.  Each time we visit I come across some characters, some residents are quiet, others are interested to feed Jet, some are happy to watch from a distance.

How to trim your dog's ears?

How to trim your dog's ears?
Following the positive feedback from my first dog grooming post I received questions about trimming dog's ears, so today I thought I'd share how I do it.  My method is not perfect and probably breaks a few professional rules but it works for us between professional visits.

Party Hats, Balloons & Birthday Cake for Jet Cavoodle

Party Hats, Balloons & Birthday Cake for Jet Cavoodle

In keeping with the tradition of taking some cool photos on Jet's birthday each year I decided to do a birthday shoot this year and while I don't have a big girl camera at the moment I made do with my panasonic compact camera and I hope you like the results.  I always have fun practicing my photography and while I'm sure Jet Cavoodle rolls his eyes at me with some of things I get him to do, it certainly makes Jet concentrate and uses up lots of energy - which is always good.

Oodles of Style

Oodles of Style
I've been following Redcliffe Style for a while now not just because Rachel's style tips are practical and on trend but also because the very first time I came across her blog it was her Cavoodle Lola that caught my attention.  Rachel is going to share her story about Lola the photobombing Cavoodle in the next week or two but in the meantime I thought I would be brave and show you some of what's going on over at Redcliffe Style

Singapore Pet Expo
Last weekend Jet Cavoodle and I went to the Pet Expo Singapore 2014 to check it out.  We were invited to help out Halo a dog product company and also wanted to visit all the booths to see all the goodies available for purchase.  There were about 50 booths selling everything from pet food to insurance, along with a full program of dog events and competitions.

Oodle Adoption | Benji the Peek a poo

Oodle Adoption | Benji the Peek a poo

At MyOodle.com we strongly encourage adoption and re-homing of any dog, especially Oodles. I know there was lots of reasons why dogs are given up and I'm not here to judge, though I do think in this case Benji got the last laugh and cuddle. Recently, I asked Rebecca if she would send me a photo of her Peek-a-poo so I could show off some different types of Oodles on the MyOodle facebook page.  What I didn't expect to receive was a heart warming oodle adoption story.  After hearing a small piece of Benji's story I asked Rebecca to tell me more and this is how she replied.

Did you know you can turn a your dog's ashes into diamonds?
So I've sparked your curiousity enough to pop into and see what all this crazy diamond talk is all about....stay with me on this one. I heard quite a few years ago via a friend of my Mum's that it was possible to turn your dog's ashes into diamonds.  My Mum's friend was actually investigating being the first company ever in Australia to provide this service.

Jet Cavoodle shows true love on Valentine's Day

Jet Cavoodle shows true love on Valentine's Day
It wasn't until we moved Jet Cavoodle to Singapore and I started taking photos of him every single day that I realised my little buddy literally wears his heart on his sleeve.  I knew he shared his love with everybody every where he went but this was something extra special.  I can't believe it took me over six years to see it.

Jet Cavoodle's First Flight - Domestic Travel & Your Dog

Jet Cavoodle's First Flight - Domestic Travel & Your Dog

Oodle is one of the most well traveled dogs I know, so we've got a bit of experience under our belt and I thought it might be helpful to tell you how we got him from A to B, including some of the funnier stories along the way.  I'll start with domestic dog travel because, well, it’s just so much easier. Rules in each country vary, today I’ll be talking about domestic travel in Australia.

Oodle Outing - Sunshine Coast

Oodle Outing - Sunshine Coast

Recently while I was in Australia visiting family I hosted an Oodle Outing on the Sunshine Coast in Qld - my home town.  The Buderim Dog Park is excellant location to meet up with other dogs as there are two secure areas, one for small dogs and the other for larger dogs.  We generally meeting in the small dog area as so far most of our Oodles have been of the smaller Spoodle, Cavoodle, Moodle, Schnoodle varieties.

Chinese New Year Celebrations with Jet Cavoodle

Chinese New Year Celebrations with Jet Cavoodle

Gong Xi Fa Cai - Happy Lunar New Year from Jet Cavoodle in Singapore!

We arrived home from Australia to find Chinese New Year celebrations in full swing. This usually means seeing lots of brightly coloured decorations up in our apartment building, at the shopping centres and in the streets. Oranges are a very famous Chinese New Year decoration which through it's golden colour symbolises prosperity.

How often should you wash your dog?

How often should you wash your dog?
This might seem like a pretty basic question, one not worth spending too much time chatting about. But that was until I moved to a different climate and didn't ask the question and ended up with all kinds of issues going on.

Dog Emergency Evacuation Plan - Do You Have One?

Dog Emergency Evacuation Plan - Do You Have One?
This might seem like an odd ball topic to blog about but for some of our members it's something really important to think about.  Australia has it's fair share of extreme weather conditions so each year when a cyclone rolls round I think about what I would do in the event of extreme weather in my area.  Mr MyOodle is often away for work so my plan needs to be possible just for Jet Cavoodle and myself.

Jet Cavoodle's DIY Dog Bed

Jet Cavoodle's DIY Dog Bed

Recently we needed to throw out one of Jet Cavoodle's dog beds which was inconvenient and annoying...it wasn't very old and it would need to be replaced.  Finding some products (especially exactly the ones I want) in Singapore can be difficult. Often it's not because the products aren't available it's just that I'm not sure where to get things and often end up spending heaps of time and taxi money looking around before I find what I want.  So when Jet's bed needed replacing I got to thinking...did I have anything at home I could make a new bed, reduce time, costs and fulfill my new year's resolution of doing more with less.

Jet Cavoodle Does Therapy Dogs Singapore Visit

Jet Cavoodle Does Therapy Dogs Singapore Visit

Today saw our first Therapy Dog's Singapore visit for 2014, we visit the nursing home which is a ten minute drive from home.  Jet Cavoodle was quite interesting today, it appeared he remembered from our previous visit, that food was included as part of our visit.  I take his kibble in a snap locked bag so the residents can feed him.  This also encourages Jet Cavoodle to get nice and close to the residents so they are able to have a pat.  Many of the residents sit in wheel chairs so it's often difficult for Jet to get too close.  As soon as we came across a resident in a wheelchair he looked at me and started licking his chops.
